  • Introduction

Composite structures normally imply the use of steel and concrete formed together into a component in order to improve the structural efficiency. In recent years, with the development of new materials, many researches for the application of them have been conducted. For example, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) composite structures is one of the most interesting fields. In our laboratory, we are conducting the researches about the combination of these new materials and traditional construction materials.

The representative research topics are :
◆ The Composite Beam using Asymmetric steel section with Web Openings,
◆ The Composite Floor System with GFRP plate, and
◆ Post-tensioned steel Floor System for the long span of public parking buildings.
The main recent concern has been the development of Sandwich Plate Systems using specific Nano-materials. The fire resistance as well as structural behavior of this system has been studied for application on commercial buildings.
